As if we don’t have enough to deal with…
Instagram has changed the phone interface, removing the heart icon from the bottom of the screen.
This move to hide likes is supposed to reduce screen time. But for those of us trying to run a business – the fact that they replaced it with a shopping bag icon is ‘cute’ but doesn’t really help OUR account management.
Clicking on the heart menu item in the past gave you a running tally of who liked which post in a last in / first out method, which made it super easy to see and respond to engagement.
They haven’t done it to every account yet. I have clients who still have a heart. (OK, all my clients have a heart, but you know what I mean)
As you can see in the above images of phone captures, the screen to the left still has a heart, activity bubble above it, etc., while the screen to the right – a shopping bag has replaced this.
What I hate about the shopping bag is that it has nothing to do with my business. They’ve removed something from my workflow that was actually useful.
So I quit whining and started working.
Of all of the crazy and weirdly wonderful things is that DESKTOP Instagram still has the heart feature at upper right. So I can see where engagement is coming from in one click, and respond to it with follow backs, and likes from my computer screen rather than my phone.
I also looked at Creator Studio on Facebook to see if there was a good work-around. Ain’t seen it yet.
So dear ones. Instagram may not have a heart – but for the moment you can still find it on your computer if not your phone.
